Earliest memories of the outdoors?
Mum bribing my brother and I with
jam tarts all the way to the top of Schiehallion aged 5.
How do you maintian your fitness?
Just with the work I do; in winter teaching skiing and in the summer working as a rope access builder.
How do you prepare for an expedition?
Try and get organised well in advance. Fatten myself up, especially for the Everest trip.
First thing you do when you get home from an expedition?
Have a good old roast and go to the local pub.
How do you keep in touch in the middle of nowhere?
I don't!
Would you write a book about your adventures?
Maybe one day when I have the time.
Favourite place?
On Bylot Island knowing nobody else is there and nobody has ever been there (or not for years) - that for me is paradise!
What inspires you?
The beauty I see, the incredible physical feeling I get when I have exerted my body. It makes me feel alive.
Who are your personal heroes?
My mum.
What does sponsorship mean to you as an athlete?
Without sponsorship these trips would be very difficult to do, I am so lucky and will continue to promote Tiso as much as I can, they have been fantastic.
