The EVERESTMAX expedition is no ordinary Everest attempt! The team of 16 set out in December 2005 aiming to be the first to complete the ascent from the shores of the Dead Sea to the summit of Everest. This journey, from the lowest point on Earth to the highest, is the last great overland challenge on the Earth's surface.
This immense expedition was patronised by Sir Ranulph Fiennes and supported by Tiso. The EVERESTMAX team depart from the Dead Sea in December 2005 on what was to become an epic adveture. From there they cycled through eight countries following the ancient 'Silk Road' to reach base camp on the North side of Everest in early April 2006. Then came the climb to the summit, completing a total ascent of 9300m (about 30,250'), the highest climb possible on Earth.
Pauline Sanderson is Marketing Manager of Glenmore Lodge and a key member of the EVERESTMAX team. As one of Glenmore Lodge’s partners, we were among the first to hear that Pauline was taking part in such an exciting challenge. Our Group Sales team jumped at the chance to help kit her out for an expedition that takes in some of the most varied conditions in the world. Not only did Pauline need all the kit that summiting Everest demands, in travelling from the lowest point in the world to the highest Pauline required a range of lightweight travel gear and durable trekking kit along with high level expedition equipment. In conjunction with Marmot, who are also partners with Glenmore Lodge, we succeeded in clothing Pauline for every condition she faced along her inspiring Journey.
Pauline and Phil Sanderson became the first husband and wife team to summit the world's highest peak - congratulations to all involved!
