Berghaus are renowed for their waterproof jackets and expertise in walking and hiking gear. A popular British brand at Tiso and we are proud to have stocked a large range of Men's and Women's Berghaus clothing and accessories for many years.
Berghaus began in 1966 in the North East of England. Mountaineers Peter Lockey and Gordon Davison were frustrated at the lack of outdoor kit available so they opened the first specialist outdoor store in Newcastle-upon Tyne. Davidson and Lockey began to experience success and soon after started to design, test and manufacture their own outdoor gear, Berghaus was born. The translation from German simply means ‘mountain house’.
Since these humble beginnings Berghaus has transformed into one of the most recognisable outdoor brands in the UK and abroad. This transformation was aided by the brands partnership with cutting edge mountaineers and adventurers. Most notably in 1985, Sir Chris Bonington wore Berghaus as he climbed Mount Everest for the first time and soon became the face of the brand.Â
Our Berghaus range at Tiso is extensive and includes everything from Berghaus tents and backpacks to Berghaus waterpfoof jackets and Berghaus coats. In 2016 we began stocking the Berghaus Extrem range, high performance clothing designed to thrive in the harshest mountain environments.Â
