Night Navigation
A new course for 2008, we are offering a unique opportunity for hillwalkers to learn the black art of night navigation techniques; skills and tactics to successfully navigate in darkness on moorland and mountain terrain.
Learn to understand your navigation behaviour in night time conditions; don’t wrestle with but, control fear; map and compass use with more confidence and efficiency.
This course is about making distressingly complicated navigation easy, coaching your map and compass relationship back to a level of un-feared control. Getting caught out in darkness can be very hazardous; however, planning to walk in darkness with the right skills and confidence can be great fun.
This course will teach you to avoid natural terrain hazards and the temptations of quick solutions to terrain planning that can cause problems. Also, more importantly you will learn to use your map and compass correctly and develop robust navigation tactics that work.
Our top tips and coaching will make it easy and enjoyable for you. Following the in-store evening session we meet at 2pm and finish around 9pm travelling from daylight to darkness.
