Tiso and Berghaus raise £6000 for Scottish Mountain Rescue

Tiso-MRT-cheque-presentation.jpgTiso and Berghaus raised a significant sum of money for Mountain Rescue Teams across Scotland this September. The donation was made following a highly successful month long initiative, in which 5% of sales revenue, from selected Berghaus products sold in Tiso stores, was pledged.

The donation comes as Mountain Rescue Teams prepare for what is traditionally the busiest period of the year, with unpredictable and often wild weather putting walkers, climbers and mountaineers in danger. The teams, made up of volunteers, are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in some very difficult and often dangerous conditions. They are an essential lifeline for stricken walkers and climbers, but unlike other emergency services, rely solely on the generosity of individuals and organisations.

Stuart Ruffell, team leader of Tweed Mountain Rescue Team said: “The money raised from this promotion will be a great help to all of the teams operating across Scotland. We rely on donations, and initiatives like this one are great for raising the profile of the organiation and individual teams, and of course raising the money needed to remain in operation.”

Tiso is Berghaus’ biggest customer in Scotland and sells technical products from across the brand’s extensive range. Between us we have almost 90 years experience of selling high performance products and helping people to make the most of their time outdoors. The promotion aimed to give something back to the outdoor community that supports both companies.

The donation, £5752.65, will be shared across the teams in Scotland and will be used to pay for new equipment as well as maintenance costs.
