Tiso donate a new innovation in Medical Rescue Rucsacs to the Sandpiper Trust
November saw the presentation, and donation, of 500 new medical rescue bags from Chris Tiso to the Sandpiper Trust .
Tiso teamed up with the Sandpiper Trust and BASIC (British Association of Immediate Care) to design the ultimate medical rescue rucsac to provide emergency medical cover to rural areas when required. The presentation marked the launch and donation of this unique product, to the Sandpiper Trust from Tiso.
The Sandpiper Trust, a Scottish Charity, was set up in memory of Sandy Dickson by his parents, family and friends. The primary aim of the Trust is to ensure that all rural GPs in Scotland are provided with essential emergency medical equipment and resources once they have undergone specialist training courses and gained certification from BASIC Scotland.
During the last six years the Sandpiper Trust (of which Gavin Hastings is Patron) has delivered over 650 medical kits costing over £1000 each to remote and rural GPs and nurses in Scotland. From the island of Foula in Shetland right down to the Borders: from St Kilda to Aberdeenshire the kits are now available to provide emergency medical cover when required. Attendance at a road traffic accident is one of the most common calls but heart attacks, riding accidents and agricultural emergencies are often encountered. Lives have been saved and more will be so in the future. In 2004 pediatric kits were added to the pack in response to the need to attend children involved in accidents while modifications are constantly monitored as new medical procedures are developed.
The new rucsac has a main section which stores equipment for breathing, airway, circulation, paediatrics and drugs. Its features include pouches to stop fluids from cooling too quickly, colour coding of storage sections for speed in an emergency, and a detachable Airbag. There is nothing as compact and specific to the needs of the Medical First Responder anywhere.
Tiso used our skill and knowledge in the outdoor product sector to help develop this unique solution for the medical world. Using our experience we have designed the unique rucsac to be easier to carry and transport both long and short distances, and combined with unique internal features is a benchmark in medical rescue rucsacs. Tiso was delighted to be involved in the project and in the position to donate 500 of these rucsacs to the Sandpiper Trust worth an estimated £10,000.
