Cicerone Pyrenean Haute Route: A lesser known trail - the Cicerone Pyrenean Haute Route is a detailed guide to 800km trek along the Franco-Spanish border, from Hendaye to Banyuls-sur-Mer. The unwaymarked route is described in 45 days, with 500 GPS waymarks, information on villages, mountain huts, guesthouses, hotels and campsites and variant routes to avoid difficult sections. Also ascents of ten classic Pyrenean summits beside the route. Best times of year to visit: July and August. August can be extremely warm and thunderstorms are an everyday hazard! In June most high mountain passes are still covered with snow but it's a good time for both the first section and, from mid-June on, the final section (if you avoid Pic Carlit). Late August and the first days of September often bring a short period of extremely bad weather but afterwards the first half of September can be exceptionally beautiful. Cicerone The GR10 Trail: The Cicerone Guide to the GR10 Trail details walking across the Pyrenees from Atlantic to Mediterranean. Taking 50 days to complete and divided here into sections tackled in a fortnight's holiday, with details of accommodation and transport. The GR10 is one of a number of official long-distance paths (Grandes Randonnées) in France. Ideal for early June through to the end of September, although care should be taken over high passes early in season. High season July and August.; £12.95

The Chamonix to Zermatt route is in the shadow of great peaks from Mont Blanc to the Matterhorn, the Chamonix to Zermatt route skirts the northern slopes of the Pennine Alps. Described in 14 stages (180km, 11 passes and 12,000m of ascent and descent). Ideal for Alpine summer walking – mid-June to mid-September. Snow could remain on higher passes well into July.; £12.95

Cicerone Climbing in the Moroccan Anti-Atlas: Climbing in the Anti-Atlas offers routes on crags on the south side of Jebel el Kest, 120km south-east of Agadir and close to the oasis town of Tafroute. Here the superb rock conditions on the pink quartzite rock of Jebel provide excellent rock climbing of up to 500 metres in height in all grades. This guide gives comprehensive coverage of approximately 25 crags, mostly unexplored by any climber. However, it is not a place for the novice. Many of the crags are complex, and route finding can be difficult. Descents occasionally involve abseils and down-climbing in exposed situations. The weather is rarely inclement and, even when it is, it is unlikely to involve electrical storms.; £12.00
