Petzl Charlet
Nitro Shock Absorber
-
The Petzl Charlet Nitro is designed to protect marginal anchors from shock loading. The Nitro is suitable for ice screw placements and abolokov's, but also good for some rock routes with limited gear.
The Petzl Nitro Shock Absorber is effectively a nylon sling sewn with stitches that are designed to tear when shock loaded. The Nitro is used as a quickdraw would be, but when shock loaded, the folded sling deploys by ripping the retaining stitching, which absorbs the impact forces of a major fall.

Climbing: Training For Peak Peformance
-
There was a time when climbers didn't train much, and if they did, it certainly was not very sophisticated compared to what other top athletes were doing. Of course, there was also a time when if you led a 5.10 route on sight, you were considered a decent rock climber. Now 5.10s are quite modest, and effective training for climbing is a sophisticated affair that leaves little room for missteps. So whether you're a climbing gym whiz or lust after clean ascents of classic alpine routes, give yourself the edge with this rock-solid guide to peak performance.
