Black Diamond have improved thier renowned Express by redesigning the tooth geometry for easier starts, adding larger crank knobs that are easier to grab and augmenting the hanger with a second clip-in point for belay organization. Quick to bite and easy to crank in, the Express screw features a tapered tube where the teeth cut a hole just larger than the tube itself, for less friction and faster placements. The foldable speed-drive knob is colour-coded for quick length identification and offers uninterrupted 360-degree motion. New stainless steel hangers are lighter than previous models, won’t rust and reduce melt-out on sunny routes. The Express is built in five lengths to accommodate a variety of ice conditions.

Revolver Screwgate Karabiner

This karabiner features a full range of locking mechanisms - Screwgate, Quicklock and Locksafe - and also comes with a keylock nose so that it does not snag on ropes or gear.
It features the same friction reducing pulley as the wiregate version, but this model will be fully certified as both a karabiner and pulley. This will make it ideal for use in hauling or rescue systems where complete safety and legislative compliance is required.
The Revolver was the reason for I-Beam technology being conceived because this process crucially allows the body to deal with the stresses involved in placing a pulley into a karabiner whist remaining light enough for general use.
