After a period of refit, we are pleased to reopen our Leith Outdoor Experience store. With a wide range of clothing, equipment and footwear for outdoor lovers, plus a new cycling department with bikes for the whole family, we're sure you'll love our new look as much as we do. See you soon!
Welcome to Tiso Edinburgh Outdoor Experience, just a few minutes’ walk from the popular Shore area of Leith. Along with a variety of outerwear and adventure kit, we offer specialist advice on all our products.
Our long-serving staff are passionate about the outdoors and – whether you’re looking for weekend waterproofs or Everest equipment – we’re happy to help. We stock a range of big-brand clothing, specialist climbing equipment and outdoor accessories.
We also have an extensive footwear department, featuring the top brands in walking and climbing boots, approach and trekking shoes, as well as sandals and wellingtons. Our level 2 qualified boot fitters will help you find the correct fit for your feet, and offer advice whilst you try footwear on our test path.
Edinburgh Outdoor Experience is also home to our specialist ski workshop. Our fully trained technician carries out a range of jobs from wax and edge to a full service. Please get in touch with us for more information.
Find the Lucano & Ross Cafe and Leith Therapy Clinic in-store and – if you’re en route to a bigger adventure – we hire boots, crampons, ice axes, sea kayaks and canoes (available from 23 March). Please note that your nearest watersports stockist is Glasgow Outdoor Experience.
I used to manage Tiso Dundee and then went to sell cars for three months... I hated it! Luckily I was offered this job and I've been here for two years. Before that, I was a rep for Anatom and owned two pizza chains.
The reason I'm in the outdoors industry is because I've been a keen climber for about 13 years. I used to go around Europe climbing when I was on my holidays. In my free time, I'm a regular climber at Alien 2 and enjoy doing some outdoor bouldering when I've got time.
In 2007, I came back from two months in the Pyrenees without a job. Tiso were advertising for a sales assistant and I've been here ever since, moving my way up!
I'm a mountain runner and have a history of trekking for long distances in the mountains. I find that I'm out in more extreme conditions than most of our customers... so I really push the kit to its limits! It puts me in a better position to advise customers what they actually need. My perfect day would involve grabbing some running shoes and doing 5 or 6 Munros.
I started as a full time sales assistant at Tiso in 2014. The following autumn, I shadowed the outgoing ski technician to learn the tricks of the trade. I'm now reaching the end of my first season in the workshop.
I'm an active climber, skier, skydiver and speedflyer. I live for adventure, and get bored easily! I like working at Tiso because I enjoy being around like-minded people, and hearing about their adventures (whether that's colleagues or customers). I'm always looking out for the next idea, and enjoy helping other people get the right equipment for the job.
I went to Dundee University between 2009 and 2013 and studied Fine Art. Then I came back home to Edinburgh before I got a permanent job here. I’m at my happiest when I’m outside! I’m not a massive mountaineer or cyclist, but my interest in all of that has grown massively since I’ve worked here.
Perfect day in Scotland? In terms of travelling through a place, I don’t think there’s anywhere better to either drive, cycle or walk through than Glen Coe. It’s stereotypical, but it’s a cliché for a reason! It feels like you've arrived in Scotland.
