Maxxis' Minion is a legend in mountain biking, and the new DHR II brings it right up to date as the best all-round trail tyre. An updated tread pattern offers grip and traction on loose through to wet surfaces, making it ideal for UK conditions which are rarely bone dry. Heavily ramped centre knobs help promote fast rolling while re-inforced shoulder knobs means there is plenty of rubber where it counts, and makes the DHR ideal as a rear trail tyre.
The Exo sidewalls are beefed up to offer better protection from rock strikes, as well as better supporting the tyre in hard cornering. The WT designation includes a re-designed layout suitable for modern rims with 30-35mm width. This allows the tyre to inflate into its proper shape and minimises the tread becoming squared off. As with most MTB tyres, the Minion is tubeless ready and should be used this way to get top performance.
3C Maxx Terra refers to the Minion's rubber compound which uses three different rubbers to balance grip and durability. On the inner-most layer is a harder rubber which provides a stable base and help prolong the life of the tyre. Above in the centre is a softer rubber for grip and traction when you need it most. On the shoulders is an even softer compound for providing maximum grip when in the corners.
There's a reason the Minion DHR II is our most popular MTB tyre: it's just brilliant. Predictable handling on a variety of surfaces make the DHR a winner.
