We know our customers like to know exactly what they're buying; we're not going to sugar coat it, but we are going to explain it. We've divided up all of the sustainable features we've identified across our product ranges and grouped them into three so you know how your purchase is making an impact: Think Nature, Think Welfare, Think People.
The Kari Traa Women's Voss Light Half Zip - Misty has the following sustainability attributes...
Products using natural fibres can range from cotton to wool to hemp and silk - but by being naturally made, they will also naturally biodegrade at their end of lifecycle. Even if you have a natural fibre product, it can probably still be recycled or repurposed before being disposed of. However, if it truly has reached the end of its use, natural fibres need air to biodegrade so please don't dispose of them in landfill.
The OEKO-TEX label covers several standards though the relevant ones to Tiso ranged products are: Standard 100, Leather Standard and Made in Green. The aim of OEKO-TEX standards is to guide consumers towards making sustainable purchasing decisions by considering every element of the product, not just the main fabric. So, this includes buttons, zips and threads etc. Standard 100 and Leather Standard certifies that textiles and leather products have been tested for harmful substances. Made in Green uses the same standards as Standard 100 or Leather Standard, but also ensures the produce has been manufactured in sustainable working conditions.

You may have heard of TENCEL, lyocell, REFIBRA and Lenzing thrown about all together, but what does it all mean?
Lenzing is the parent group who use wood from sustainable, renewable forests to produce ‘viscose’ fibre. Lenzing produces four types of fabric: LENZING, TENCEL, VEOCEL and ECOVERO. The difference is their application and use: LENZING is used more in workwear and packaging, TENCEL is used for predominantly for activewear, underwear and footwear, VEOCEL for face, cleaning and baby wipes, and ECOVERO for even more sustainable fabrics for fashion.
TENCEL is the most common Lenzing fabric you’ll see used in the outdoor industry. TENCEL is a brand name for lyocell fabric. REFIBRA technology takes cotton scraps from used clothes and factory floors and mixes it with TENCEL to give second life to waste. The production of TENCEL is a closed loop process - while it uses chemicals, 99% is recycled and continually used.
This brand ensures that the factories they use have been third party audited but are not specifically partnered with a Non-Profit Organisation. This will be either BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) or SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit), which are social auditing methologies and reports but are not an accreditation. This means the brand has sourced factories who have passed an audit, so their worker rights, environmental impact and social compliance is up to scratch.
