About The Epic Evo:
Just like the standard, race-winning ultra-fast Epic, but more, well, epic.
Everyone loves a cross country bike: they're super fast and make you feel like you're flying. Sadly, that flying feeling often appears because they're sketchy on proper trails when gravity is on your side. That's why we often add chunkier tyres, dropper post, wider bars and the like to XC bikes to make them better for all round riding. But why change a pure race bike, when you could just have the right bike to start with?
That bike is the new Specialized Epic Evo. Based on the same XC race chassis as the standard Epic, the Evo gets a bigger 120mm fork to slacken the front of the bike (making for more stable handling) and soak up more features on the trail. It gets wider bars (750mm) and shorter stem to also improve handling when the trail gets a little wild. Wider than usual 2.3" tyres and 25mm rims offer way more grip and control than your normal XC offerings, and a dropper post as standard allows you to properly move around the bike to rail those turns. Some key components allow you to enjoy the downs as much as the lack of weight allows you to enjoy the ups.
Speaking of components, the Epic is based around something special: the Brain 2.0. This supension system automatically firms up the rear shock on smooth ground allowing better pedalling efficiency, yet as soon as you reach a bump in the trail, the shock opens seamlessly to cushion and provide traction. There's no need for turning a lockout here, just intuitive, reactive suspension.
So is it a cross country bike? Yeah, but it's more than that. Forget pigeon holes. The Epic Evo is at home banging out laps at 110% on your typical XC race, and it's absolutely ready for an all-day back-country mission. It's ready for big mileage marathon racing and off-road bikepacking. It's also ready for smashing those evening rides when you've only got an hour of daylight left and you want to cram as much trail in as possible. The Epic Evo is still a race weapon, it's just ready for bigger, longer, tougher races, while also being able to rip on your local trails too. For the rider who wants speed everywhere, all the time.
