About The Remedy:
Where to start with a bike like the Remedy? For years it's been the core of our mountain bike range, the do-it-all trail bike that climbs well, descends fantastically, is super fun and tough enough to ride day in, day out.
The heart of the Remedy is it's stout aluminium chassis. Alpha Platinum aluminium is tough and light, and Trek have moulded into a frame with all the right numbers and features. A 65.5 degree head angle hits the sweet spot for stability at speed and manouverability in the slow techy sections. The Mino Link allows you to adjust the geometry to suit your riding style, and sleek internal routing makes for a clean looking bike. A Boost rear end means maximum stiffness when putting down the power or blasting through rock gardens, and the clever KnockBlock makes sure your frame will survive any unscheduled dismounts.
The RE-Aktiv rear shock is a Trek specific design with settings developed purely for the Remedy chassis. This makes for a sensitive shock that stays firm when pedalling, but opens up to absorb big hits with ease. The shock controls 150mm of suspension, putting the Remedy in the trail/enduro sector: light and agile enough for all day epics, but capable of hammering down stage after stage at any enduro race. 27.5" wheels keep the nature of the bike fun. Throw it into corners, jump off every lip and pick lines others wouldn't dare. Remember this the trail bike of Brandon Semenuk, Ryan Howard, Casey Brown and plenty of pro riders who value handling above all else.
Up front is 160mm Rockshox Lyrik Select+ fork with Charger 2.1 damper. The Lyrik's burly 35mm stanchions ensure plenty of control on rough trails and big drops, not getting bent out of shape when pushed to the limit. A fork like this just eats up the trail - once you've tried it, you'll wonder how you managed without. Bontrager supplies the Line Comp 30 wheels which feature wide 30mm rims wrapped in 2.6" rubber. It's a high volume setup, easily made tubeless, and super reliable. 54 tooth engagement at the rear ensures a fast pick up for that racing start and, using DT Swiss internals, you know it'll be easy to service and a top performer.
SRAM provide a GX Eagle 12 speed groupset, which does everything you need a drivetrain to do. A super wide gear range to cope with prolonged and steep climbs as well as fire road sprints, superb chain retention so you don't need to play it safe in the rock garden, smooth shifting and great reliability. Matching Guide R hydraulic brakes allow you to rein it all in (very important on a bike this capable) with plenty of modulation and control. Bontrager's finishing kit leaves little room for improvement with a wide 780mm bar and short 35mm stem providing ample leverage and control. The Line dropper post works smoothly and is easily serviceable, and when not hooning downhill, you can perch on the comfortable Arvada saddle.
So is the Remedy for you? If you want a do it all MTB, a bike that handles intuitively, a bike that's fun and reliable, and one with a lifetime warranty, the Remedy could be the bike for you. It's won numerous awards over the years and the 2021 version is in the same mould - awesome performance, killer spec and a great price.
