About The Powerfly:
Totally re-designed for 2020, the Trek Powerfly has really come of age and become the go-to e-bike for all round mountain biking and general riding.
Let's start with the frame. The new Powerfly is built around the Removeable Integrated Battery (RIB), a clever system that hides a 500WH Bosch battery in the downtube. It's so neat, you'll barely notice this bike has added power. The frame itself encases the battery and motor using Trek's Alpha Platinum aluminium - a strong and light material - with sleek features like internal cable routing and armour around high impact areas. With a modern geometry and reduced offset fork, the handling is spot on for general off road riding and allows you to ride hard on all but the toughest trails.
The star of this show though is the Bosch motor. This is the Gen4 motor which has lost a considerable amount of weight over previous versions, as well as being smaller, more powerful, more efficient and smoother in delivering that power. Sound good? It is. Notonly has the range of the Powerfly been extended but clever electronics mean that the power is delivered more smoothly to mimic a natural ride. 4 power modes ensure you can prioritise speed or distance to best meet your needs. The battery can be charged in the bike or easily removed for convenience. With Bosch's legendary reliability and support, this is a brilliant design and one that is designed for many seasons of hard use.
Up front a 120mm suspension fork kees your wheel tracking where you want it and smooths out the terrain. Chunky 29 x 2.3" tyres really hold momentum over rough ground and, due to the extra volume and width, provide increased grip and traction. A wide ranging single-ring drivetrain is easy to operate, smooth and reliable - in other words, it works so well you won't even notice it.
The Powerfly is finished with a stylish finishing kit and powerful hydraulic disc brakes which are well suited to keeping the Powerfly under control, even on loose terrain.
If you're looking for an e-bike for off road and all roads use, the Powerfly should be top of your list. It's clever design makes it easy to live with day-by-day yet it's performance both on and off road is what separates it from the rest. A true all rounder for the rider who wants electric assistance in a reliable and fun package.
