Born in the mountains, Bergans of Norway was founded in 1908 and quickly became the number one Norwegian outdoor brand. Norway’s environment is no doubt beautiful to explore, but with that beauty comes the challenge of harsh and extreme weather conditions. These conditions place high emphasis on clothing to be protective and functional.

Here at Tiso we have a long standing relationship and respect for this brand, including our joint support of The Polar Academy, an incredible charity, that turn young adults into role models through Polar exploration.

With this in mind, we jumped at the opportunity to go and test Bergans new lifestyle range which Tiso are stocking for Autumn/Winter ’17. Along with three of our ‘Supported by Tiso’ ambassadors, Bee and Jawn & Tristan from the North Blog, we headed to Scotlands capital of adventure, Aviemore, to see if this new lifestyle clothing would live up to our high expectations.

We chose a great few days for our trip as the remnants of hurricane Ophelia swept across the UK. When there was a break between downpours we headed out to explore the lochs and trails around Aviemore. There are so many beautiful spots within easy reach of the town and the moody skies seemed to add something special to this spectacular landscape. After exploring, we were lucky enough to head back to the MacDonald resort lodge to warm up by a cosy fire.

We loved the new Bergans of Norway range. This clothing is smart and stylish enough to wear everyday, but has the protective and functional qualities of Bergans technical clothing. We would happily wear this gear around town, on the commute to work and out on the hill, the best of both worlds.

Read on to explore our favourite items from the new Bergans of Norway range here at Tiso.

The Women’s Bodo Down Coat - £299

The Bergans Bodo is a super cosy and stylish, thigh length, down feather coat. This coat also has a removable fur lining and hood. The outer of this coat is constructed of wind and water repellant mate-rial, essential on our trip to Aviemore.

Added features of this coat include wrist warmer cuffs' high collor to keep the wind out and a clever asymmetric zip, which looks stylish but is also much easier to use with one hand. At only 850g (Size M) this coat will be a brilliant addition to your winter wardrobe.

Women’s Snoull Lady Half Zip - £99

The Snøull Lady Half Zip from Bergans is a midlayer made from pure merino wool with a subtle pattern. With excellent stretch properties, the Snøull makes an excellent midlayer for winter sports.

This top is incredibly breathability but also warm. As the merino wool is so soft it can easily be worn as a baselayer when the temperature really drops. We are stocking the Snoull half zip in both Blue Navy and Red Burgundy.

The button up front opens your options for styling the pieces, meaning you can wear the Bergans Bjorli shirt fully buttoned up or open paired with a t-shirt. This lightweight shirt is just 380g, mak-ing it ideal for packing if you're travelling.

The Bergans of Norway Hollvin Womens Jacket combines two different types of wool mix to give the wearer exceptional warmth in core areas. The luxurious finish and bold design of this jacket makes it a perfect outer layer for the cold snap or as a warm mid layer under a waterproof shell.

The Hollvin is a great example of how technical a wool garment can be when paired with expert design and knowledge of the outdoors that a brand like Bergans can offer.
