Our Blues boy skiing heroes

| Comments

Here at Blues, we love to support the next generation of Scottish skiers. Find out who our featured young male heroes are below – we bet you'll be hearing more from them in the future!

Tom Crockart

When I was six, I had my first skiing lesson in the Cairngorms. Now I’m 14, and since then I’ve been competing when not at home in Perth.

I’ve been at the Scottish, English, Welsh and British Championships and took home a first in U14 GS and SL at the 2014 British School Boy Championships. But I’d say my greatest experience was completing my first ever SuperG race in 2012.

I’ve got a busy season ahead: weekly training with the Scottish Ski Team, then racing with BSA in Les Houches in January, plus the Bormio and Tignes championships. Fingers crossed we get some good snow in Scotland this year on my days off!

Scott Buchan

I’m Scott, I’m 16 and I live in Perth. My first skiing lesson was during a family holiday in Meribel, then at Muckart Dry Slope in Tillicoultry.

I love competing, and recently won the British slalom (U14), the English and Scottish Giant Slalom (U16) and I’ve been selected for the GB unders Alpine Team. I’m also the Scottish U16 ski cross champion. But I’d say that my biggest achievement was representing Team GB at Val D’Isere in April 2015.

I’ve got a pretty busy season ahead: Tignes for two weeks in October, Canada in December and then training with the British Ski Academy in Les Houches next winter. And my game plan? To participate in the World Youth Olympics.

Andrew Greenshields

Hi I’m Andrew, I’m 16 and I live in Dalkeith. Since I had my first lesson during a family ski holiday in France, I’ve competed in a number of races, winning the Scottish U16 Grand Slalom Championship.

Along with my younger brother Duncan, I’m a member of George Watson’s College A team.

My ambition is to enjoy myself when I’m skiing, and hopefully win as much as I can!

Duncan Greenshields

After having my first lesson in Tignes when I was three, I’ve been skiing even since.

I’ve competed in a number of races, including Scottish Schools, British Champs, Anglo Scottish, English Champs and I was the Scottish U12 Champion.

I’m heading south to Pontypool in November with my brother Andrew and the rest of the George Watson’s team for the British School Championships. Fingers crossed we’ll keep our British title!
