Don't let the rain stop your adventure | GORE-TEX | Tiso Blog

Scotland's leading outdoor clothing and adventure specialists since 1962.

This autumn our Supported by Tiso affiliates and ambassadors have been testing our new GORE-TEX products across the mountains and Islands of the UK.

With GORE-TEX waterproof products you don’t have to let the rain stop your adventure! Check out their reviews of our latest footwear and jackets!

Mountain Equipment Impellor GORE-TEX Jacket by Hamish Frost

I was able to really put the jacket through its paces during a run around Helvellyn (taking in Striding Edge and St Sunday Crag) on a character building day of strong gusting winds and sideways rain. Normally in these sort of conditions I wouldn’t bother wearing a waterproof on the uphill for fear of overheating, instead relying on keeping moving to keep warm. This jacket performed excellently on the uphill however, breathing well and actually keeping me dry thanks to the new GORE-TEX Active technology.

The Impellor has the feel of an actual shell that is going to keep me dry and protected from the elements (rather than just being something that will get past a race kit check!) and as such it’s impressive that ME have managed to produce something that packs down so small.Shop Online

Merrell Moab Mid GORE-TEX Boot by Mollie Hughes

I have been testing the Merrell Moab mid GTX boot in Scotland over the last month in rain and shine. It has been an exceptionally comfy boot from the first hike! This boot has a GORE-TEX waterproof membrane meaning it is highly waterproof but also super breathable. It is a mid-boot, so it has the comfort of a hiking shoe but has some ankle support for added protection on rough ground. Its Vibram sole is also a great feature for grip and comfort. Highly recommend for a go-to comfy hiking boot.Shop Online

Black Yak – Kuri GORE-TEX Jacket by Aaron Tregellis

I have been testing the brand new Black Yak Kuri jacket recently in Scotland including a trip to the Isle of Tiree for 24 hours of rain, wind and sun. Made with a GORE-TEX pro membrane on the main body, the Kuri is extremely breathable and weatherproof. This jacket also features GORE-TEX pro stretch fabric strategically placed for greater freedom of movement when climbing. This jacket has all the added features of a high end hardshell with four chest pockets, an internal pocket, pit vents and a helmet compatible hood. I am excited to be putting this jacket through its paces in full Scottish Winter conditions over the coming months.Shop Online

Merrell MQM Flex GORE-TEX by Tristan Cameron-Harper

I had a chance to properly test these out running through the forest and on the road in very wet conditions in Glen Etive. I was extremely happy with the overall performance of this shoe. The GORE-TEX invisible fit technology waterproof membrane worked a real treat giving me that extra confidence to run in wet conditions as well as being super breathable and fast drying. I’m happy to give this a thumbs up for any runner who likes to go on or off trail. .Shop Online

Haglofs Women's Roc Spirit GORE-TEX Jacket by Rachel Keenan

The Haglofs Women’s Roc Spirit jacket is a really great hardshell. I have been testing it recently in the highlands and Islands here in Scotland on various photoshoots and in all sorts of different weather conditions. This jacket uses a 3-Layer GORE-TEX technology meaning it is incredibly waterproof and durable to protect me from all the elements when I am out on long shoots. I would highly recommend this jacket to anyone who is after a strong and durable waterproof they can rely on.Shop Online

The North Face Apex Flex Jacket by Iona Rendall

What better way to test out this ultralight Apex Flex GORE-TEX waterproof jacket than to climb some hills in the pouring rain. Then do it all again to find my lost keys at the top! I found it extremely comfortable and the slim fit was so snug yet breathable while I retraced my soggy steps to find my keys. Horizontal rain and gale force winds are no match for this GORE-TEX shell. Bring on the adventures!Shop Online

Arc’teryx Beta LT GORE-TEX jacket by Mollie Hughes

I have tested this jacket over the past few weeks in the Scottish highlands, in every weather the highlands can throw at you! I am a huge fan of this jacket and already know it is going to be my go-to hardshell for climbing and hiking this winter. It has a GORE-TEX Pro membrane, the most advanced weather protection available, it is pretty much bomb proof to any adverse weather conditions. This jacket is also highly breathable to avoid overheating on the uphill slogs!Shop Online
