Tiso, Alpine and Blues staff are experts in their own fields. This comes from experience and a love of what they do, whether that be hill walking, running trails, rock climbing, or spending time on the water. Each Saturday we will be highlighting a different member of staff and talking to them about their outdoor journey. This week we're chatting to Rebecca (Bec) Murray, who you'll find riding around the Pentlands if you hang about long enough!
What's your role at Tiso?
I’m pretty new to the Tiso team, working as the Digital Merchandiser for Alpine Bikes. My role on a day-to-day basis is super varied and can include anything from merchandising the website, to brainstorming ideas with colleagues, to creating content for our online channels - all good fun!
How do you spend your time outside of work?
When I am not at work you will find me outside. On the weekdays I usually head up to the Pentlands in the evenings with my gravel bike or mountain bike, and on the weekends I will go a little further for an adventure. I love forests and I love bikes, so mash those together and you have a very ‘Bec’ day - think Glentress, Cairngorms, Dunkeld.
What is your favourite bit of kit and why?
I love long distance trail running and my runs are made way way more enjoyable with my Salomon hydration vest. I stuff it up with snacks, extra layers and water meaning I can be out in the hills for longer and not have to worry if the weather changes or if I get hungry! I always find cool rocks and flowers on my runs and I end up carrying these home in one of my vest pockets.
Are there any outdoor activities you are really keen to try?
I’d LOVE to try motocross. I think that would fulfil the adrenaline junkie within me. In winter time I love to ski downhill but this season I'm hoping to try ski touring since there’s lots of places in Scotland to do it!
