E-bikes allow you to make the uphill sections as hard or as easy as you want them to be. Turn the power down for a challenge or turn it up and breeze to the top. You’ll never need an uplift again.
E-bikes allow you to do as much of the riding as you want. You’re in control. It can still be a tough ride if you set the power low. It just means that when you get tired, you can carry on enjoying your ride instead of heading home.
E-bikes share the same technology, components and geometry to normal bikes. This means you still get that super agile, confidence inspiring MTB, but with the added oomph of a motor. More speed = More fun, right?
E-bikes allow you to ride for longer. You can ride that section of trail you love so much again and again but without your legs turning to jelly.
Something often missed is in many situations, the extra power of an E-bike actually gives you more control when the going gets tough. It means you can get up that technical climb and conquer that rock section with ease.
Electric bikes allow you to extend your enjoyment beyond your normal capabilities, helping you explore more.
E-bikes are a fantastic training aid, helping you gain fitness, ride further, and faster. By varying the electrical assistance you can make your ride more challenging for a set amount of time, then increase the motor assistance for a relaxed warm down on the ride home.
Avoid the morning gridlock and zoom along the cycle paths without even breaking a sweat. Being able to ride to work without arriving tired or dishevelled makes commuting a viable alternative to the car and public transport.
No car, no fumes. It’s as simple as that. Using your E-bike as an alternative mode of transport on shorter journeys helps you to contribute to a greener planet.
Cars and public transport are expensive! Save on fuel and ditch your bus fare so you have more money to spend on yourself. You deserve it!
Whether you are a serial cyclist or just starting out, e-bikes are a valid option for getting out riding. For the initiated, they open up new areas to discover further afield, and for those new to cycling they offer a great introduction to help increase fitness and gain the enjoyment of cycling, without the steep learning curve.
An E-Bike is a bicycle with an electric motor that assists your pedalling efforts. Modern E-bikes are designed to be ridden like a normal bike. This means you control when you go, stop and how fast you go. The battery and motor assist you rather than do all the work for you. The harder you pedal, the more help you get, meaning you can tackle hills with less effort and more speed.
This depends completely on the type of ride and how you use your E-bike controls. In Eco mode on a flat ride you can expect to ride for well over 60 miles (roughly 5-6 hours depending on your average speed). Whereas in Boost mode, climbing up some serious off road hills, 30-40 miles (3-4 hours) is more realistic. In reality, if you use the controller to vary the assistance you require throughout a ride, you can extend battery life and still feel the benefits on the tough parts.
Most modern E-bike Lithium batteries will last for around 1000 full charges. A full charge is from 0% to 100%, so if you do multiple rides only using a small amount of battery and charge it each time, one full charge will be when you have put in the equivalent of 100% charge in total. After this they will still continue to work, they just won’t take a full charge any more. This won’t affect the power output but will affect the run time. For optimum performance, we recommend changing the battery after this length of time. Ask one of our in store experts for more info.
Like any other bike, the main thing is to keep everything clean, lubricated and regularly serviced. Keeping it clean will extend the life of all your components, keeping it lubricated will ensure smooth running. Regular servicing will keep on top of any niggles and make sure your software is up to date. E-bikes are designed to be ridden in all weathers, so regular washing like a standard bike is still the order of the day.
You don’t! When you buy a bike from Alpine bikes, one of our expertly trained mechanics will assemble, service and set up your bike for you. This means you can just jump on and pedal off into the sunset on your shiny new steed.
To fully charge a 500Wh battery will take anywhere up to 5 hours depending on the charger used (some smart or fast chargers can substantially decrease this time. This converts to roughly 7p per full charge. This makes it not only fun, good for you and enjoyable, but also extremely good value day-to-day. Bus fare? No thanks…
