The Backland 85 is a ski made for Scottish conditions and spring touring in the Alps. As any seasoned Scottish tourer will know, powder days are few and far between, and one day can see you encounter conditions from icy neve to windslab and maybe even a bit of the fresh stuff.

The Backland 85 excels in these varied conditions. The middle to narrow waist width helps you stay in control on hard wind-formed snow and a long effective edge makes for excellent grip on hard snow and in icy conditions. The rigidity from the carbon backbone gives the ski plenty of torsional strength and a nice intuitive pop out of every turn. If you do happen to find a powder bowl then worry not there's still enough surface area to stop you from sinking and the shovel-shaped  HRZN Tech Tips add a bit of extra float.
