Maxxis Assegai 27.5x2.5 WT 3C MaxxGrip EXO+

The Maxxis Assegai is the brainchild of one of downhill mountain biking's most successful racers, Greg Minaar. Named after the spears used by the Zulu warriors of Greg's native land, South Africa, this is a truly fearsome tyre. It combines elements of Maxxis DHF and DHR II tyres in the centre tread, reworked High Roller II side knobs and some extra teeth between the two for more predictable transitions into corners.

This is an all-condition tyre for anything from hardpack to loose and wet. The triple compound (3C) MaxxGrip rubber is super soft for incredible traction. The WT casing Assegai is best mounted on rims between 30 and 35mm in width for the best profile and performance. Punctures are a thing of the past too, with the EXO+ protection layer. Flat protection and grip can both be taken to the next level by setting the tyre up tubeless, a must for anyone wanting the best performance out of their tyres.

Set your mountain bike up with an Assegai at both ends or just on the front, paired with a faster rolling tyre on the rear. However you use it, you'll love the glued-to-the-trail feeling the Assegai gives.
