Black Diamond Camalot & Camalot Ultralights

Summary

Black Diamond Equipment have issued a recall – subject to user inspection – of the Camalot and Camalot Ultralight spring-loaded camming devices. There is a possibility that some units may have been incorrectly assembled and may fail during use. This could result in death or injury.

Details

The axles connecting the cam lobes to the stem may not be correctly riveted in a very small percentage of Ultralights. The device’s strength may therefore be compromised, and could come apart during use.

Products affected

This recall concerns all sizes of Camalots (.3 to 6) produced between 18 May 2015 and 9 March 2016 with manufacturing codes between 5133 and 6067. This recall similarly concerns all sizes of Camalot Ultralights (.4 to #4) produced between 10 November 2015 and 4 March 2016 with codes between 5309 and 6061. Individual style numbers of the different sizes can be found on the Black Diamond recall page here.

What to do

If you own Camalots or Camalot Ultralights that match the above description, Black Diamond has requested that you STOP USE IMMEDIATELY and inspect them following indicators outlined on their website (click here). If they fail inspection, you can bring the item back to your nearest Tiso store for a refund or credit, or you can contact Black Diamond directly. The item(s) will be replaced free of charge.
