Well maintained skis perform better and more predictably, making skiing easier and more fun. When we service your skis, we focus primarily on the condition of the edges and the base of your skis. The edges are sharpened and bevelled to provide grip on hard snow and carefully detuned to make initiating turns easier. Any scratches in the base of your skis are filled (as part of a Premium Service) and ground to create a flat even running surface with a uniform structure. This is finished off with a hot wax to ensure your skis glide effortlessly across the surface of the snow.

We offer a range of ski servicing and repair options depending on the condition of the equipment. For skis in good condition that do not require base repairs, we recommend our basic ‘Edge & Wax’ service. This includes edge tuning, stone grinding and a hot wax. For skis that do require base repairs, we recommend our Premium Service. This includes P-TEX filling of gouged base, belt grinding, edge tuning, stone grinding, hot waxing, and an optional binding check. In addition, we also undertake a range of repairs as necessary. All ski servicing is done at our workshop located in our Tiso Outdoor Experience shop in Edinburgh. Local customers are welcome to bring skis directly to the workshop for the fastest ski servicing turnaround.

Alternatively, skis can be dropped off at any other Tiso shop. Your skis be sent to our workshop for servicing and returned to the store of your choice for payment and collection. All work is done on a first come first served basis, there is no advanced booking required.

Winter Season (15th Oct - 15th Apr): workshop is open and staffed full time. We aim to turnaround all jobs within 2 weeks. However, this may vary based on your location and the nature of the work required. Faster turnaround times are sometimes possible, contact the workshop for availability.

Spring / Autumn Season (15th Apr - 30th Jun & 1st Sept - 15th Oct): workshop is open and staffed part time. Turnaround time is 2-3 weeks.

Summer Season (July & August): our workshop is closed during this time.

Yes, we can. Skiing on dry slopes creates a significant amount of heat which can be very hard on ski equipment. To protect your skis and offer the best performance on mat, we can apply a specialist wax to prepare skis for use on dry slopes. We offer dry slope waxing as part of our normal servicing (Basic and Premium) at no extra cost. Please ask the member of staff in store when you bring in skis for servicing and they will request this for you.

In our workshop we use machinery from Wintersteiger, the world leader in ski servicing equipment.

Compared with an average pair of skis, snowboards typically have significantly more surface area and are difficult to work on. More labour is required to achieve the best quality finish so this is reflected in the price.

As part of our premium service we will perform a binding check if requested. First, we perform a simple visual inspection to ensure your bindings are undamaged. Then we calculate your binding release values using information you provided (height, weight and skiing ability) and verifying that all release settings are correctly adjusted. Please provide a single boot with your skis if you would like your bindings checked. We need this to verify the binding adjustments are correct.

Unfortunately, we don't have a binding test machine in our workshop and so are unable to offer this service.
