About our store

Discover 10,000 square feet of outdoor inspiration at Tiso Inverness Outdoor Experience. Opening our doors in 2007, we continue to stock the area’s widest range of equipment, clothing and accessories for every adventure.

Across all 3 areas of the store – Tiso, Blues and Alpine Bikes – you’re guaranteed expert advice. Our long-standing team have an active interest in the outdoors, and pride themselves on their approachability and knowledge.

We also provide a range of fittings which are overseen by trained staff: walking boots and poles, Fischer vacuum ski boots and TREK Precision bike fit. Over at Alpine Bikes, in-house servicing is offered by our Cytech qualified mechanics.

Heading for an adventure? Both winter mountaineering and watersports equipment are available for hire. And if you prefer to stay a bit drier, pre-book our climbing wall for youth group events and training sessions. Finish off with coffee and cake at the popular Corner on the Square deli, which is located on the upstairs balcony.

Meet The Team Tiso Inverness Outdoor Experience

Store Manager

I’ve been with Tiso for 8 years. I joined 6 months after the store opened. This was my first retail job – I did telesales before and I hated it! – and I was a sales assistant initially. I then got promoted to assistant manager for 5 years, and finally got the manager’s job. There’s a mountain of work all the time, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I totally love it. I doubt I’d enjoy retail elsewhere… Tiso attracts a fantastic customer base and the people that work here are great.

I’ve been out and done a fair amount of outdoor activities – I’ve tried most things! So I know the dos and don’ts, so I can sympathise with people when they’ve had problems with kit because I’ve probably had a similar issue!

Senior Sales Assistant

I started here as a sales assistant about 5 years ago after spending most of my working life in outdoors retail. My main hobby is I’m a musician. But in the outdoor world, I love camping. Music festivals, out alone on the hills, with a few friends…

If you’re looking for somewhere to visit near the shop, I’d recommend the Dores Inn… Or anywhere on Loch Ness, to be honest! It’s a guaranteed tourist pleaser, even on a not-so-nice day the atmosphere is fantastic. Standing on the shore, looking down the loch, there’s so many histories and stories… Something for everyone!

Sales Assistant

I used to be a good customer in Tiso, and since I love the outdoors lifestyle I thought that working here looked like fun! That was about 2 years ago. Before that, I worked at a shoe shop.

I do a lot of hillwalking and I’ve just started running. I know the background of all the clothing and products we sell, so I’m pretty good at customer service!

My ideal day would be to do Ben Wyvis, or some climbing near Aviemore. Nearby, I’d recommend Loch Ness.

Sales Assistant

I started here part-time, since I’ve loved the outdoors all my life. I’m into canoeing and climbing… so it’s easy to talk about products!

Three things to take to a desert island? A Canadian canoe, paddles and probably a ration pack!

If I had to spend a day in the Scottish outdoors, I’d probably canoe from Dores Beach down the river into Inverness.

Blues Sales Assistant

I’m currently studying Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, so working at Blues is my part-time job at the weekends.

I go on skiing holidays a lot – I’ve always loved skiing. I’ve skied for 4 or 5 years, so being able to talk to customers with the same interests as me is really fun. I’ve broken a lot of equipment before, so I can relate to customers!

I love the Highlands. As soon as you get out of a village, you’re totally surrounded by hills. It’s awesome. My ideal day would be skiing on Ben Wyvis near Dingwall, but nearby I’d probably recommend going towards Invergordon (it’s a smaller version of Ben Wyvis).
