We Took the Caledonian Sleeper From London for a Highland Adventure

2 min read

Watch along as Bruce and Emilia go on an incredible 24 hour adventure from London Euston station all the way up to Aviemore on the Caledonian Sleeper train for a day's hike in the Scottish Highlands!

Starting somewhere a little bit different than usual, Bruce and Emilia begin a whirlwind 24 hours in London Euston station, boarding the Caledonian Sleeper train with Osprey bags in tow. Watch along as they head to the Caledonian Sleeper Guest Lounge for some down time before the journey, investigate the cabins on the train and discover handy features such as plenty of storage space to stow their bags, cosy beds and even a shower to freshen up in.

As the train cruises through the countryside, the pair enjoy delicious food in the spacious Club car before heading back to their cabins, where after a restful night’s sleep, they can admire the striking views of the Scottish countryside as it passes their windows, and head to breakfast as they pass through Pitlochrie.

Arriving in Aviemore for 7:45am, it’s time to head to our Tiso Outdoor Experience store to get kitted out for the hike, wending their way through Glenmore Forest to the Green Lochan. A small, freshwater loch nestled amongst Caledonian pine, willow and birch trees, the water is a mysterious green colour which some attribute to the reflection of the trees, others to algae in the loch, and some even believe it comes from the fairies that wash their clothes in the loch at night!

Continuing onto to Ryvoan Bothy along trails and past Highland cows to rest awhile, the pair conclude their epic adventure back in Aviemore. In just 24 hours, this incredible adventure has spanned from the south of England all the way up to Aviemore – enjoying good food, a comfortable bed and a beautiful day’s hike exploring the Scottish Highlands. Watch the full video to see this epic journey, get tips and tricks and if you want to experience your own adventure just like this one, check out the Caledonian Sleeper website here, and get kitted out with your own Osprey pack from our range here, too!
