
DJI Avinox Bike M2 & M2S Motors
"Power Is About Capability, Not Speed"
One of the most highly anticipated launches of 2026, the DJI-backed Avinox M2 and premium M2S motors have landed, building upon the success and expertise of the 2024 M1 model. At EUROBIKE 2026, they also revealed the MG concept; a combined motor and gearbox unit, paving the way for the reshaping of drivetrain units in the future.
Currently in partnership with 60+ brands including Whyte, CUBE and Orbea, Avinox is building itself quite the repertoire in the e-MTB world.

What are the new Avinox motors?
Avinox M2S: up to 1500W of peak power and 150Nm of peak torque, ideal for trail riders who seek maximum power or enjoy the thrills of aggressive enduro riding.
Avinox M2: up to 1100W and 125Nm torque, suiting most riders seeking a performance upgrade and introduction to the Avinox space.

With both weighing in around the 2.6kg mark (with the M2S almost matching the 2024 M1) despite the increased power output, the M2 and M2S are compact and lightweight, paired with newly integrated batteries that demonstrate impressively fast-charging capabilities; the 700W charging from 0-80% in just over an hour. They are comprised of high-strength, tough polymer materials that suppress noise at high speeds, with integrated temperature sensors and cooling fins to promote cooling and airflow to keep efficient energy conversion.

What makes the Avinox motors different to others?
1. Raw Power
The M2S produces 1500W peak power and 150Nm of peak torque in 60 second bursts, with 130Nm continuous torque. In comparison, the Bosch CX (in its latest form) currently has an output of 750W and 100Nm, whilst Shimano’s EP801 offers 600W and 85Nm. The Avinox motors will also offer up to 800% assistance, as opposed to the 400% Bosch currently offers.
2. Maintained Levity
Despite this push for more power, Avinox have managed to keep the weight down on their motors, with the M2S weighing in at 2.59kg (almost as light as their 2024 M1 motor), whilst the Bosch CX Race racks up 2.7kg of weight.
3. Better Efficiency
By using flat copper wire windings, the M2S pushes its efficiency to 84.5%, so more output from the battery is transferred into movement, rather than heat.
4. Smart Connectivity (on the M2S)
By utilising features found on DJI’s drone technology, the Avinox M2S has an integrated GPS chip and nano-SIM slot that means you can track the location of your bike without a phone, and there’s even the opportunity for automatic adjustments of assistance based on heart rate. This isn’t yet found on any other motor.
5. Natural and Smooth Ride Feel
Despite the high-power capabilities, the Avinox motors have been described by users as delivering smooth, progressive power that avoids on/off power surges. This combined with traction control inspires confidence, particularly on technical and more difficult terrains.
6. Whisper Quiet
Both the Avinox M2 and M2S are designed to run at a rate under 45dBA, possibly among some of the quietest motors on the market right now.

Along with these, the new-generation Avinox motors are formulated with a dual-meshing gear design that helps eliminate gear backlash and reduces pedal kickback noise – ensuring maintenance is kept to a minimum. The integrated temperature sensor pairs with cooling fins and the new flat wire windings to boost the dissipation of heat, increasing efficiency for a stable, sustained, high-level power output.
In a press release from Avinox themselves, their ethos of the next-gen motors was revealed: “power is about capability, not speed”. Built to comply with any and all speed regulations across the globe, the Avinox’s higher power capabilities are not designed to increase the speed of the bike but instead to make difficult, technical and rough terrain more manageable. This opens up the MTB road to riders of all fitness levels, body types, age or physical limitations, with intelligent algorithms assistance and 5 pre-set modes that are customisable and user-adjustable to match rider styles, preferences, abilities and even the terrain. Whether it’s providing assistance that conquers steep inclines, encourages longer distances rides or just to help build confidence in more technical environments, it’s clear that the Avinox M2 and M2S have been engineered to redefine both the performance and meaning of e-MTB power.
