Rapha have outdone themselves with the Core Rain Jacket II. It represents incredible value for money in terms of the protection and level of design sophistication on offer. To start with, two different fabrics are used. There is a 3-layer waterproof laminate on the arms, where the jacket might be touching the skin, for a comfortable dry feel. On the body, a 2.5-layer fabric is used to cut weight and bulk, so the jacket is more packable. There are laser-cut perforations under the arms for added breathability and the front zip is offset so any wind that gets through doesn't go straight through your jersey zip too. Fully taped seams, a YKK water-resistant zip and the accompanying internal storm baffle ensure that you stay dry from the start of your ride, all the way to the finish. Cinch down the hem drawcords for a snug fit and you'll be practically impervious to the elements. There are even reflective graphics throughout to ensure that you are seen in the hours of darkness
