For tough sport climbs and committed bouldering moves you need ultimate confidence in your shoe - this is where the design and technology in the Instinct VS-R comes into its own.
Inspired by the request of many of Scarpa's global athletes, in particular those competing on plastic, the new VS-R offers the option of a softer rubber in your quiver of shoes. Same last, rands and characteristics of the legendary Instinct VS, but this version will appeal to plastic masters and those of a lighter frame, where the extra feel and sensitivity of the Vibram Grip 2 compound will be best suited.
The Instinct VS-R excels both indoors and outdoors, in sport and bouldering.
We know our customers like to know exactly what they're buying; we're not going to sugar coat it, but we are going to explain it. We've divided up all of the sustainable features we've identified across our product ranges and grouped them into three so you know how your purchase is making an impact: Think Nature, Think Welfare, Think People.
The Scarpa Unisex Instinct VS-R Climbing Shoe has the following sustainability attributes...
Products using natural fibres can range from cotton to wool to hemp and silk - but by being naturally made, they will also naturally biodegrade at their end of lifecycle. Even if you have a natural fibre product, it can probably still be recycled or repurposed before being disposed of. However, if it truly has reached the end of its use, natural fibres need air to biodegrade so please don't dispose of them in landfill.
Keeping our items in circulation for longer is key to reducing environmental impact, and resoling your shoes/boots when the soles start wearing out can help you to hang onto them when there's otherwise a lot of life left in them. This pair can be resoled by the supplier - get in contact with the brand directly to organize a resole, or check out our recommended repair specialists.
This brand manufactures over 80% of its products in the country of its headquarters, which has many benefits both for the environment and for workers. Local production means less CO2 emissions, more control over working conditions, and helps to boost the local economy.
