For over 70 years Scarpa have been designing and manufacturing top quality footwear from their hometown of Asolo, Italy. At Tiso we love Scarpa products, the design, the workmanship and the comfort, make their shoes and boots incredibly popular with our staff and customers alike.
The Scarpa Mojito GTX has for a long-time been one of our most popular shoes sold at Tiso. On a recent trip to the Isle of Bute we had the opportunity to test out the Women’s version and find out which key features make it such a hit with our customers. We spent the day exploring the Island on foot and by bike. After seeing the sites of Rothersay, Bute’s largest town, we hired some bikes from a local shop and cycled across the Island to Ettrick bay, a beautiful beach on the West side of the Island.
The Mojito GTX is one of our most popular shoes from Scarpa. It is designed as a lifestyle, city-use shoe. However, it has many key features that give it the durability and practicality for paths and trails and approaching crags. Firstly, the Scarpa Mojito has a durable suede upper, over time this shoe should mould to fit a person’s specific foot shape and get even more comfortable the more it is worn. The protected toe rand is also a great feature, protecting the suede from abrasion from rocks or scree and adding to the overall durability of this shoe.
Under the suede upper lies these boots defence against water. The Gore-tex extended comfort lining. This lining is 100% waterproof but also highly breathable. The extended comfort version of Gore-tex used in the Mojito has low insulation properties, it is therefore designed for moderate and warmer weather conditions. This boot is perfect for UK spring, summer and autumn conditions or for a walking holiday abroad.
Another key feature of the Scarpa Mojito GTX is it’s Vibram sole unit. Vibram, have for many years been the bench mark for hardwearing and supportive soles for outdoor footwear and are on almost all Scarpa products. The Mojito uses a Vibram Spyder sole unit, this specific sole unit is incredibly durable, it has a harder edge construction but with an EVA heel wedge to increase comfort. The Spyder Sole unit also grips very well on smooth rock, meaning this shoe can also be worn as a casual approach shoe.
The Scarpa Mojito GTX performed very well on our adventures on the Isle of Bute. Scarpa have designed a shoe that looks stylish enough to wear around the town but has the durability and key features to make it a versatile outdoor shoe. With its Vibram sole unit, Gore-tex lining and suede upper it is a tough and practical outdoor shoe for all adventures.
