About The Slash:
A race-winning trail-smashing juggernaut for the speed freak.
The Slash platform is based around a 150mm rear suspension design using Trek's proven RE:aktiv and Thru-Shaft technology. This provides an active suspension platform ready to soak up the smallest bumps to the biggest hits. It's a design replaicated across Trek's range, from the downhill orientated Session to the do-it-all Fuel EX, meaning it pedals efficiently without undue bobbing, but has the capacity to eat up rough trails.
The Alpha Aluminium frame is a bombproof build. High strength and stiffness allow you to ride with confidence, and with Trek's lifetime guarantee, you know they've got your back too. Internal cable routing keeps things tidy and the slack 65 degree head angle really lets you know the Slash's intention: to go downhill, fast. 29" wheels match the ambitions of the frame and allow you to really plow through technical terrain with aplomb. The 160mm fork with large 35mm stanchions and a ashort offset add to this feeling of strength, creating a good balance of stability at speed and nimble handling in the slow, techy stuff.
This 8 model handily walks the line between performance and great value. The build kit features quality parts like Rockshox's Yari & Deluxe RT3 suspension, Bontrager's highly regarded Line 30 wheelset with chunky XR4 & XR5 tubeless ready tyres, a SRAM GX Eagle groupset and Guide R brakes, plus Bontrager's own finishing kit with super wide 820mm bars, short stem and excellent dropper post. In short, for the price tag, it's a dialled spec ready for racing, exploring and hammering whichever trail you point it at.
So, the Slash is a supremely capable bike for tough descents? Yes, absolutely, but it's more than that. It's got the heart of a racer and the platform has been piloted to victory in many enduro events across the world. Excellent handling and reliable components come together to make a superb value racer. The Slash is at home tearing down stage after stage as it is seeking out remote technical trails deep in the woods. It pedals well enough to get you anywhere, but the Slash is all about riding downhill as fast as you dare. Swing a leg over and see what you are truly capable of.
