Cannondale Tesoro Neo X 1 - Midnight Blue

The Tesoro Neo X is a versatile and rugged hybrid electric bike. It's definitely on the burlier end of the hybrid scale, with its chunky 2.1" tyres and suspension fork, you can take on all sorts of off-road terrain as well as cruise around on tarmac. The Maxxis Pace tyres are great at absorbing small bumps thanks to their high volume, but they're also quiet, and grippy on hardpack surfaces, because of the small tightly packed tread blocks. When you hit the bigger bumps or potholes, the suspension fork and suspension seatpost will absorb the blow so you can carry on pedalling in comfort. The relaxed but sporty geometry leaves the rider in a semi-upright riding position that offers a great balance of long-distance comfort and fast handling, so you can cruise all day long or wind your way through tightly packed urban areas. All of your favourite accessories come as standard too. Bespoke mudguards and rear pannier rack are cleanly integrated, along with front and rear lights that are wired into the main battery so you can stay visible at all times. A chaincase keeps oily components neatly concealed and the dropout-mounted kickstand means you can park the bike anywhere.

The Tesoro Neo X 1 comes with a massive 750 Wh battery for all-day tours on eco or blazing it the full distance to work on turbo mode. A Bosch Performance Line CX drive unit delivers 250 W of power and 85 Nm of torque. Plenty of oomph for winching up steep climbs while keeping your legs fresh. You can monitor all kinds of ride stats including motor setting, estimated range, and battery charge using the display and adjustments can easily be made with the handlebar remote.

One of the things that set the Tesoro Neo X 1 apart from its competitors is Shimano's e-bike-specific LinkGlide drivetrain. LinkGlide uses chunkier, more robust chains, cassettes, and chainrings. These better resist the high forces motors subject the drivetrain to, for prolonged component life. It actually shifts more smoothly too at the expense of shifting speed and the rear derailleur is also overbuilt for reliability over weight saving, Gone are the days when chains only lasted a handful of turbo rides before needing to be replaced. The Deore 1x10 speed LinkGlide drivetrain has a compact 11 to 43 tooth rear cassette paired with a big 38 tooth chainring. This is a smaller gear range than on a lot of modern bikes but, let's face it, you won't be going slowly on the Tesoro, so there's no point in having a granny gear. Instead, you can finely tune your cadence for maximum pedalling efficiency on long rides with those nice tight gear spacings. As you would expect, the brakes are powerful hydraulic pieces from Magura, with massive 203mm rotors for plenty of braking bite.
