About The SuperSix:
If we were asked to describe Cannondale, the two words we'd come back with would be innovation and integration. No one produces bikes quite like Cannondale.
The SuperSix is no exception. A super high performance race bike equally at home in the peloton or smashing Strava segments on Sunday afternoons, it's a bike made for going fast. In terms of speed, the SuperSix has always been known for it's weight, or lack of it. Less weight makes for faster climbing, and Cannondale's Ballistec carbon fibre is one of the lightest blends out there. However, as the name might suggest, it isn't a delicate material. The SuperSix is strong and stiff where it needs to be, allowing you to charge hard up those climbs with minimal flex and plummet down the otherside with full confidence and secure handling. Out back, SAVE technology engineers some vertical compliance into the frame that provides a good degree of comfort on rougher roads without sacrificing efficiency.
Previously, the SuperSix modelled round tubes to save weight, but Cannondale's engineers have come up with a faster shape. The truncated aero tubes are the same weight as round tubing but cut through the air much better, reducing drag by a whopping 30%. Clean, internal cable routing aids aerodynamics further, including right down through the head tube which gives a really clean look to the bike. The seatpost is clamped with an integral clamp again to keep the lines clean and smooth.
In the last few years, road tyres have come a long way. No more skinny and harsh 23mm tyres, thank you. The SuperSix can comfortably fit up to 30mm so you can take advantage of the latest wide aero rims and new breed of race tyres. Speed Release axles on the wheels allow for super fast wheel changes too. All together, it's a super integrated frame with each section flowing smoothly into another to aid aerodynamics, but with ultra-lightweight at its heart.
Bolted to the frame are some truly excellent parts to help you make the most of the chassis. Cannondale's own chainset and bottom BB30 setup has long been considered one of the stiffest setups around and absolutely perfect for smashing down the road to take a well earned victory. The stiffness and strength here is so good, you really feel like all your power is going directly into forward motion. Shimano provide the rest of the drivetrain with an Ultegra 2x11 groupset and matching hydraulic disc brakes. Peerless shifting and reliability, and a good range of gears to get up the steepest of climbs and spring with the best of them. The brakes are what is required to make the most of a bike as capable as the SuperSix. Fingertip control but maximum power. More control leads to more confidence and you'll be quicker down the descents as a result.
Cannondale's Hollowgram wheels feature carbon rims at a moderate 35mm deep. This is a great blend of lightweight with a touch of aero, and some lovely aesthetics. 25mm Vittoria tyres roll quickly and provide plenty of grip in the corners. Own brand finishing kit is unsurprising given Cannondale's love of integration, and as usual, it all works together faultlessly. Well made componenets slotting into place with precision and allowing you to perform to your max.
So, innovation? Yes, plenty of that in the SuperSix. Integration? You bet. Everything fits seamlessly with everything else. But does it perform on the road? Absolutely. This is a flying machine. If you're a roadie through-and-through and you want more speed, less weight and the ride of your life, step this way.
