About The Roubaix:
Smoother is Faster: FACT.
The Roubaix is named after the toughest one-day bike race in the world, Paris-Roubaix. With around 50km of brutal cobbles in the route, riders are always looking for a bike to iron out the harsh edges and provide a smooth ride. With seven wins in Paris-Roubaix Specialized are among the foremost manufacturers of bikes designed to offer comfort and performance. This year's Roubaix builds on that legacy with a stellar design offering everything you need for a long day in the saddle.
FutureShock is the system Specialized developed for the Roubaix that makes all the difference on rough roads. 20mm of suspension travel built into the headtube separates the rider from the road, allowing the bike to soak up vibrations while you pedal in comfort. Unlike a suspension fork, the geometry of the bike remains constant through the travel so you remain in compete control. When on smooth tarmac, the system can be locked out for maximum efficiency, so you won't be riding on a pogo stick. It's an adaptable and versatile system to deal with the worst a road can throw at you.
To go along with the pioneering suspension design is a super light and surprisingly aerodynamic carbon frame. Tested in the wind tunnel, comfort doesn't have to mean slow any longer. Specialized have also introduced Rider First Engineering which optimises each frame to the size being made, so a small frame can be lighter and more complaint where a large frame has extra material in key areas to increase stiffness. An integral part of the frame is the new Pave seatpost. The hidden clamp within the frame and custom carbon fibre layup provide more flex and compliance, meaning, you guessed it, more comfort. The frame is completed with clearance for up to 33mm wide tyres, so you can go as wide as you like depending on your preference.
The Expert model features a smart tubeless-ready DT Swiss wheelset for ultimate comfort and grip, alongside a full Shimano Ultegra Di2 electric groupset. Electric gearing means ultimate reliability and slick shifting, with no cable stretch, no corroded cables, just pure performance every time. Once you've tried electric shifting, you won't go back. Matching hydraulic disc brakes are powerful, reliable and offer plenty of modulation for perfect control. Finally, Specialized's own elegant finishing kit includes the carbon Pave seatpost, ergonomic bar, stem with integrated computer mount and a Body Geometry saddle which will keep you supported mile after mile.
The Roubaix is a proven performer on the hardest road terrain in the world. It's designed for comfort, but don't let that full you - all that tech won't slow you down when sprinting for the 30mph sign. The Roubaix is an all round fast road bike, ready for fast-and-light touring, fast-and-faster racing, or just plain road riding. Ride anywhere, comfortably.
