Get the lowdown on the relaunch of TNF's Summit Series

Our blogger Fiona Outdoors explains why everyone's talking about Summit Series. Shop the collection here.

The North Face Summit Series was first launched in the autumn of 2000 and has become a firm favourite of climbers and mountaineers. In 2015, the collection of durable and weather-beating jackets, pants and baselayers is relaunched.

It’s worth noting that these are not cheap products but they are highly durable and very technical. If you are heading out into the harshest of Scotland’s winter conditions or even planning a trip to the Alps, you can trust that the Summit Series technology will do what it says on the label.

TNF Summit Series is also seen as the gear to wear if you want to look like you’re a hardened outdoors fan. You might not even reach the places that can properly test this equipment but you’ll look the part by simply wearing them!

So what's new?

Like many brands, TNF has looked to the athletes and pros who need the best of kit to help them to design their autumn 2015 collection. They have taken their time to redesign and create what they state is a collection that has been, "reimagined with cutting edge innovation and purposeful design.”

The collection will prove to be even more exclusive since there are limited quantities being made and the time period for sale is relatively short. Here at Tiso, we have the full collection in-store and online.

Respect, inspire, evolve

The North Face team behind the collection has been guided by a design ethos of 'Respect. Inspire. Evolve.' Respect for the athlete’s culture and the environment that they play in. It inspires athletes through the products' design, feel and function and it evolves by pushing the limits of innovation and technology.

There are six layers to the collection, from L1 (inner) to L6 (outer).

L1 Top and Pant: Baselayer essentials made from engineered fabric to provide “zonal” warmth and moisture management, plus articulated construction for mobility.

L2 Jacket: Midlayer made with durable Polartec and Thermal Pro with Hardface Technology fleece.

L3 Jacket: An ultra light down mid-layer that is insulated with 800-fill RDS down.

L4 Jacket: The warmest synthetic mid-layer in the collection, this jacket is insulated with TNF’s ThermoBall synthetic insulation that retains warmth when wet.

L5 Shell and Shell Pant:  Waterproof, breathable DryVent 3L membrane outer layers.

L6 Jacket: An 800-fill RDS down belay jacket that uses welded, Z-baffle construction for increased warmth and weather-resistance.
