Trek Powerfly 7 EQ - 2022 - Dark Prismatic / Trek Black

The Powerfly is Trek's most popular electric bike and a firm favourite for mountain bikers who want to ride further and faster. The EQ (equipped) version comes kitted out with an integrated pannier rack, mudguards and lights. Ideal for offroad adventuring or the commute.

The Powerfly is built around the Removeable Integrated Battery (RIB), a clever system that hides the huge-capacity 625Wh Bosch battery in the downtube. Not only does the battery hold about 25% more energy than standard, but it's also super neat. The frame itself encases the battery and 250W motor using Trek's Alpha Platinum aluminium - a strong and light material - with sleek features like internal cable routing and armour around high-impact areas. With modern geometry the handling is spot on for stability at speed and confident handling in the corners.

The star of this show though is the Bosch motor. This is the Bosch Performance CX motor that produces 25W of power and 85Nm of torque to get you up those ascents. Combined with the large capacity 625Wh battery the range of the Powerfly has been massively extended while clever electronics mean that the power is delivered smoothly to mimic a natural ride. 4 power modes ensure you can prioritise speed or distance to best meet your needs, controlled by a neat colour-screen computer. The battery can be charged on or off the bike and is easily removed for convenience. With Bosch's legendary reliability and support, this is a brilliant design and one that is designed for many seasons of hard use.

Up front, a 120mm (80mm in XS) SR Suntour Zeron 35 fork keeps you in control thanks to stiff 35mm stanchions and a supple air spring. Wide 2.4" tyres are mated to Bontrager's Line 30 wheelset, providing a stiff, strong and light wheelset that is ready for tubeless setup for ultimate off-road performance. Gearing is taken care of by a 1x12 speed Shimano mix which has a wide range, precise shifting and great reliability.

The Powerfly is finished with a stylish finishing kit including wide handlebars, a comfortable saddle, and a neat dropper seat post making the Powerfly capable off road as well as on the tarmac. Powerful Shimano hydraulic disc brakes with large diameter rotors are well suited to keeping the Powerfly under control, even on tough terrain.

The Powerfly 7 EQ's mudguards are designed specifically for the Powerfly so they're super secure and offer excellent coverage to keep you dry. The rear rack is great for loading up with commuting essentials or packing for an overnight adventure. The front and rear lights are wired into the main battery so you never have to worry about running out of charge. You can leave them running throughout the day for added visibility in traffic.
