Specialized have made something truly special with the Aethos. It uses traditional, round tube shapes and non-dropped seat stays for a very clean, slightly retro look. The branding is subtle almost to the point of being non-existent and it is incredibly lightweight. However, where it really shines is its ride quality. With race-inspired geometry and slightly more damping and compliance than its featherweight S-Works sibling, the Aethos shines on everything from steep, winding climbs to the fastest descents. It's a bike built for the pleasure of riding. For squeezing as much speed as possible out of the power you give it without sacrificing any of that magic that makes you yearn to be back in the saddle.
The Comp Rival eTap AXS model comes equipped with SRAM's most affordable electronic shifting groupset. With this, you get all the same performance as the top-tier equipment just made with less exotic materials, for a small weight penalty. The 48/35 chainset in combination with a 10-36 12-speed cassette gives a massive gear range so you can spin at a comfortable cadence on any gradient. Hydraulic disc brakes keep your speed in check for confidence-inspiring descending and DT Swiss R470 wheels keep you rolling fast. Even the small things like the Body Geometry saddle and Supacaz bar tape are done right to finish off an excellent spec on this beautiful bike.
