Product Description
Cannondale can do some magical things with aluminium thanks to decades of experience making innovative products with this lightweight metal. This is alluded to in the names of their alloy race bikes. CAAD stands for Cannondale Advanced Aluminium Design and these bikes can go toe to toe with their carbon fibre counterparts at a far friendlier price point.
The CAAD Optimo series is for those just getting into road riding or racers competing on a budget. The classic rim brake design keeps the price down and maintenance simple, with only cables to worry about and no hydraulics. The geometry, tube shapes and construction all make for a stiff and responsive ride but dropped seat stays and engineered flex zones soak up chatter to ensure it's not harsh. The carbon fork further dampens road vibrations while delivering precise steering. The Optimo isn't just fast, it is practical too. There are bottle cage bolts and cunningly concealed mount points for a pannier rack and full-length mudguards.
The CAAD Optimo 1 is the top offering in the Optimo range. It comes specced with Shimano's 2x11 speed 105 shifting kit for slick gear changes and easy cadence setting. The 50/34 FSA chainset sits in a nice middle ground that bridges the gap between racing and touring ratios. Stoppers come in the form of Tektro calliper rim brakes also break the Shimano trend but they are lighter than their 105 counterparts and perform every bit as well.
Whether you need a bike for weekend racing, winter training, or a long commute, the CAAD Optimo won't disappoint.
