Trek Domane AL 3 Disc - 2023 - Alpine Blue / Dnister Black

Trek's Domane AL road bikes are excellent for anyone who is just getting into road biking or on a budget. The Alpha Aluminium frame is constructed using clever techniques that leave the weld almost invisible for carbon bike looks at an alloy bike price. One of the things that makes the Domane such a good beginner's bike is its endurance geometry. The tall headtube and short reach put the rider in an upright position with less stress on their arms and neck. This isn't quite as aerodynamic as more race-oriented bikes but it is more comfortable for longer rides. This is great for getting used to riding in the drops and developing bike handling skills on a nice stable platform.

Voluminous 32mm tyres smooth out rough roads and provide plenty of grip in the corners. You can even fit 35mm tyres if you fancy taking the Domane on the road less travelled for some gravel fun. Mechanical disc brakes work reliably in all conditions, ensuring you'll never be left wanting more stopping power. There are mounts for just about anything you might want. Fit a set of mudguards to keep the road spray off through the winter or a rear pannier rack for the commute or carrying groceries. There is plenty of space for bottle cages too and the Blendr stem can be used to cleanly integrate lights and/or a cycle computer.

The Domane AL 3 comes kitted out with a 2x9 Shimano Sora groupset. The benefits over the 2x8 Caris groupset are smaller gear jumps to make it easier to find a comfortable cadence, better component longevity and sharper shifting. The cranks spin on an external bottom bracket that lasts longer and has lower resistance than the internal BB on the Domane Al 2.
